I Will Sing
A song received by Kyle Roberts
Below is a song that I wrote a few years ago. I was just given the opportunity to record the song on Saturday July 30, 2005 with the wonderful Young Married Life praise team at Denton Bible Church. The story behind writing this song is kinda funny. I have never considered myself much of an author (I am a statistician by trade), but I received this song from God one Saturday night while preparing for worship the following morning. The song was written in reference to two families that had experienced incredible difficulties.
The first family came to Denton Bible almost three years ago. Just prior to their coming to our church, their son had passed away as the result of an accident when playing near blinds. Although devestated, they leaned hard on God and He supported them powerfully. Although a great tragedy, their faith never waivered and they continue to be an encouragement to me in both word and deed. Never have I met a family who in the midst of losing so much, continued to trust that there was something beyond this!
The second family has for a long time been close to my own family. Without going in to details, they have had some great health problems with their children in the past few years, almost losing their youngest. To hear them continue to affirm that "God is Good!" taught me just how little my faith can sometimes be. When I might have cursed, they remained steadfast. And they continue in their amazingly positive attitude even though they know that health problems for their children will only potentially get worse, not better. They encourage my spirit by the way that they continue to minister to others in the midst of their own personal storm.
When thinking about these two families that Saturday night, I penned these words and put it to music. Hopefully it will be an encouragement to you until the day that we "Sing down streets that are made of gold."
